Oakville Diwali 2019

Lakeshore Convention Centre in Oakville glittered with festivities and light during the celebration of the 6th Annual Oakville Diwali Gala 2019 on September 20 in support of Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital (OTMH).

Over 400 guests attended the glamorous evening presented by Oakville Diwali Gala to enjoy the theme of Lights, Camera, and Auction. Guests were received by a group of paparazzi taking photos and asking quirky questions to guests, generating a moment of curiosity about what to expect inside the party hall.

Justin Trudeau, Prime Minister of Canada, in his letter to OHF, extended his warmest greetings to everyone attending the Diwali Fundraising Gala for supporting this worthy cause and making a difference in the health and well-being of their fellow citizens.

The celebration of Oakville Diwali in a Bollywood meets Hollywood style evening presented exciting performances by Canada’s #1 Bollywood Dance Company, Broken Dance, which specializes in creating unique choreography and shows.

“We aim to expand the surgical program, getting essential equipment for OTMH caregivers, and giving patients access to new surgical procedures,” said Mary McPherson, CEO of OHF. She added, “we applaud you for your leadership,” in her welcome message.

Rekha Sharma, Chair, Oakville Diwali, in her message to the guests, reminded the words of John F.  Kennedy, “Ask not what your country can do for you, – ask what you can do for your country” and further added, “With your support and our efforts, let’s make the patient experience more pleasant.”

The proceeds donated from the event totaled over $140,000.

This year, the Gala included in the fundraising efforts were: “Pop the balloon” in the Balloon Burst to win some excellent gifts, the Live Auction for the chance to win an adventurous trip, and many more elite prizes! Balloons cost $75 each and included the opportunity to win one of three exclusive gift certificates to Knar Jewellery valued at $1,000, $1,500, and $2,500.
